home alone

as I always say:
I didn’t need your “sorry” then
and I am not gonna need your “sorry” now…

[you fail to understand that
I didn’t even need you that night
(I wanted you, that’s the difference),
and I definitely am not gonna need you right now.]

so just let silence speak volumes,
let morning come
through the blinds.
I’ll fix us a cup of coffee
and you can go to work,
go on your merry little way;
no need to dust off the small talk
or pretend that any of this existed.

after you close the door behind you,
I’ll routinely water the plants
go on to the market, to the bank.
I’ll fold my clothes, pack them,
so I can leave
as silently as I came.
