like the drunken fools
we were
when fell down in the pool
with our clothes still on.

laughter echoed through the night,
ascending to a clear sky (so open),
being carried by a wind so warm,
(the screams of joy probably
pissing off the neighbors) and
inviting us not to think,
but just to be.

like animals,
our ignorance was bliss.
(ignorance of a night that was to come,
a night of ebrious foolishness,
strong friendship,
hidden loneliness and minor
misbehavior and trouble)

what a great time
it was to be young,
and alive.
